Subway Surfers hits 1 billion downloads (Source: Google Play)

At the end of October 2017 — according to Wikipedia — there were more than 20 mobile apps for Android with over 1 billion downloads on Google Play. However, all of them were owned by Microsoft, Facebook, Samsung, or Google. Back then, Subway Surfers was in the crowd of free apps with over 500 million downloads, but still below the billion. Now, this game that made its debut less than 6 years ago has finally reached the 1 billion downloads milestone.
According to Jacob Møller, Kiloo CEO, "Surpassing 1 billion downloads is a historic accomplishment. In this case, history was written by a talented team of developers and a fantastic collaboration between SYBO and Kiloo." SYBO Games CEO, Mathias Gredal Noervig, unveiled that the players of this title "will have even more great content to consume" and that the team behind Subway Surfers is excited about the future releases, as well as the animated short films that are scheduled to arrive later this year to further expand the game's universe.
